On September 16 Meta announced a package of creator marketing updates, and the key date in it is September 29: from that day Instagram live streams can be run as Partnership Ads. The format already existed on Facebook; now it comes to Instagram.
What Exactly Is Launching
Live Video Ads on Instagram. A brand will be able to promote a creator's live stream as a partnership ad: the user sees an ad marked as live and lands in the ongoing broadcast on click. General availability — from September 29. Meta does not specify in the announcement which placements will get the format.
Creator Marketing Hub. Meta merged two previously separate surfaces — Creator Marketplace (finding creators) and Partnership Ads Hub (managing partnership ads) — into one interface, now available globally. Inside: creator search with audience filters, content permissions with expiration dates, one-click ad creation from creator content, built-in messaging for negotiations.
AI and APIs. Meta's AI business assistant is built into the Hub for creator search and workflow guidance. Partnership Ads are connected to Meta Ads MCP — meaning AI agents can build and manage partnership campaigns. The Creator Marketplace API now covers Facebook (previously Instagram only), and there are a new Messaging API for outreach and a Content Discovery API with organic recommendations, keyword search and performance data.
Why Meta Is Doing This
The logic is simple: creator content performs better in ads than brand content, but the "find — negotiate — get rights — launch" process was scattered across tools and took weeks. Meta is pulling everything into one place and adding AI so that cycle shrinks to days. The live format continues the same line: a broadcast with a real person answering questions is the most "alive" creative type there is, and it can now be scaled with budget.
What This Means for Affiliates
For e-commerce and white verticals — a working tool. Physical goods, subscriptions, edu, licensed financial products: the "creator live + Partnership Ads to cold audiences" combo solves the main problem of 2026 — static creative fatigue. A live stream does not burn out because it is new every time. Plus Partnership Ads run under the creator's name rather than the ad account — a different level of user trust.
For grey affiliate traffic — next to nothing. Partnership Ads require the creator's permission to use their content and account, and the creator is a public face. Gambling, nutra with aggressive claims, unlicensed crypto will not pass this format: partnership ad moderation is stricter than regular, and the creator risks their own account. It is not a loophole but a showcase for those with nothing to hide.
For those working with influencers directly, the Hub can replace manual search and correspondence: audience filters and APIs allow systematic creator search by GEO and niche, and time-limited permissions close the eternal question of "can we still run this creative".
What to Check Before September 29
- Whether the brand or ad account has access to Partnership Ads — the format requires setup on the Business Manager side.
- Whether the creator is ready to grant rights to the live stream as ad content — a separate permission in the Hub.
- How to measure: a live stream is not a landing page, the usual postback cannot be placed here. Conversion is counted by actions after the stream — profile visits, shop visits, link in bio. On what can and cannot be measured without server-side tracking — see Postbacks and S2S Tracking.
Discuss the format and share first tests in the Instagram section of the forum.
