Affiliate marketing with no investment is the most common beginner question and the most common argument on forums. Some say "without money it is not arbitrage", others post $1,000+ case studies with a $50 starting budget. Instead of inventing an answer we collected real cases and threads from Partnerkin, CPA.rip, BlackHatWorld and Indie Hackers, checked platform and network rules against official documents, and turned it into one guide: what is realistic, what it actually costs, and where to start when you have no budget.
Short answer: is it real
Yes, with two caveats. First, "no investment" almost always means "no money, but a lot of time" — in the cases it is 4–5 hours a day for weeks. Second, with a zero budget you are not doing classic arbitrage (buy traffic cheaper, sell it dearer) but UBT — conditionally free traffic: organic reach from TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Reddit, Pinterest and Telegram that you send to affiliate offers.
- Forums have documented results with $0–50 budgets: $1,135 in 20 days from TikTok to dating (Partnerkin), $1,132 from Reddit to Amazon with no ads (Indie Hackers), $2,500–3,000 in 4 months from TikTok to CPA (BlackHatWorld).
- There are opposite examples too: 24 Shorts with thousands of views and zero clicks, $1,300 spent "just to understand UBT", and the usual ban waves where 20–30% of accounts survive.
- Partnerkin's "where to start" guide puts the minimal UBT start at 3,000–5,000 ₽ and a comfortable one at 10,000–15,000 ₽. A full test on paid traffic starts at $500–700.
Bottom line: earning your first money from zero is possible; "quitting your job in a month" is not. If the terms are new to you, read our affiliate marketing guide for beginners first — below we speak the language of offers, GEOs and conversions.
What "no investment" means: budget levels
If you write down the expenses from the cases, you get four steps rather than two options (zero or paid traffic). Knowing your step matters because it decides which setups are available to you at all.

- $0. One or two accounts on your own phone, manual editing in CapCut, a free link-in-bio, networks without a deposit. That is how the BlackHatWorld case began: two TikTok accounts, 15–20 videos, an OGAds offer — and $2,500–3,000 in four months.
- $50–70. A VPN for the target GEO, virtual numbers and emails for sign-ups. This is the most common entry price in UBT cases: the author of the $1,135 case spent $52.
- $100–200. Proxies, autoposting, several devices. Mass setups start here, and so do ban waves: in the $900 net case the first week wiped out 70–80% of accounts.
- $300+. Bought accounts, phones, software. This is no longer "no investment" — and it is where beginners lose money most often, as in the $1,300 story.
The honest conclusion: a zero budget works only on the first step — one or two accounts you run like a real person. As soon as the word "mass" appears, so do expenses.
Why no budget always means UBT
Arbitrage is buying traffic. With no money there is nothing to buy, so the only source is organic reach on platforms whose algorithms give new accounts a chance: TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, Pinterest, Reddit. The market you are entering is big: according to the PMA study, US affiliate marketing spend reached $13.6B and drove $113B in sales — 9.4% of all e-commerce. And in the Authority Hacker survey 45.3% of affiliates name traffic as their biggest challenge. In other words: if you can generate free traffic, advertisers are willing to pay for it.
The problem is that UBT is a dirty and unstable source. A video can get 500,000 views from a GEO where your offer does not accept traffic. An account can get shadowbanned for duplicates. So the goal of month one is not "make $1,000" but get the first 10–20 conversions and learn which setup gives you clicks.
Where to get free traffic: platform rules
Before picking a platform, check whether it allows links at all and under what conditions. We put the official rules in one table.

- TikTok. A clickable bio link appears at 1,000 followers (or on a business account). The Creator Rewards program requires 10,000 followers and 100,000 views in 30 days with videos over a minute — for an affiliate that is a bonus, not the goal. How to grow an account: how to grow TikTok from zero.
- YouTube Shorts. Links in the description and pinned comment are available from day one. The Partner Program needs 500 subscribers, 3 uploads and 3M Shorts views in 90 days for fan funding, and 1,000 subscribers and 10M Shorts views for ad revenue. More: how to make money on YouTube Shorts and what to promote on Shorts.
- Telegram. Affiliate links without limits, and from 1,000 subscribers of a public channel Telegram shares 50% of ad revenue. The "videos → channel → offers" scheme is covered in moving traffic from TikTok to Telegram.
- Pinterest. Affiliate links are allowed directly in Pins, but must lead to a product page without abused shorteners. One of the few platforms with a long tail: a Pin keeps sending clicks for months.
- Reddit. The 10% rule applies: no more than one promo post per nine useful ones, or the spam filter kicks in. For open promotion there is the Brand Affiliate tag. The Indie Hackers case below is built on Reddit.
- Instagram and Facebook. Links only in bio and Stories. Meta is moving towards paid links: in the Meta One subscription clickable links in organic posts are a paid feature, and for affiliates there are Facebook Affiliate Partnerships. Organic posts with affiliate links are a grey zone here. For the paid route see Facebook ads for beginners.
Forum cases: what people actually got
We picked six cases with numbers that the authors published openly. The figures were not independently verified — they are personal reports, so treat them as a reference point, not a guarantee.

BlackHatWorld: TikTok → CPA (OGAds), $0
The author of the "TikTok + CPA in 2026" journey recalls starting two TikTok accounts a few years ago, posting 15–20 videos for an OGAds offer and making $2,500–3,000 in four months without spending a dollar. Then the honest part: he never scaled it, and in the following years the same approach brought him $3. The lesson is not the number but the fact that free traffic does not last — use the window while it is open.
Indie Hackers: Reddit → Amazon, $0
A developer who had been laid off built a site with product picks based on real redditors' reviews (the first one — portable monitors) and got traffic by replying in Reddit threads where people asked for advice. Monetization — Amazon Associates. Result: $1,132 in about two months with no ads. This is "white" UBT that does not depend on ban waves: the links lead to a useful page, not an offer landing.
Partnerkin: TikTok → dating, $52
The most quoted case by vad_10: 30 TikTok accounts, 6 videos a day each, 4–5 hours of work daily — $1,135 in 20 days with $52 spent on VPN and numbers. In the next report the author made $1,169 after switching to photo carousels and rotating calls to action. And then he wrote "$1,000 a week on TikTok and burnout": manual work on 30 accounts wears you out faster than the traffic runs out.
Partnerkin: TikTok → dating, ~$200
The $900 net case by the same author shows the other side: week one was a ban wave, 20–30% of accounts survived, and stable income came only in weeks three and four. Expenses around $200 — proxies and numbers. This is exactly the line where "no investment" ends.
Partnerkin: Reels → UBT, $1,300
An author from 360agency described spending $1,300 "just to understand how UBT works": half of the bought accounts died in the first week, 48 accounts were lost in one day because of proxy issues, and stable numbers appeared only in month two. His main conclusion — bought accounts without your own warm-up do not survive. On warm-up: warming up and farming TikTok accounts for UBT.
BlackHatWorld: Shorts → beauty CPA, $0
A newcomer posted 24 Shorts with 1,000–15,000 views each — and got zero clicks on the link in the description. The forum's answer: nobody reads Shorts descriptions, a short branded domain must be shown in the frame and said out loud. In a parallel thread about mobile CPA offers members say $2–5 installs still work, but only with traffic from the right GEOs.
Worth a separate mention is the "$1,000 a day with CPA offers" journey on BHW: it started with organic traffic but reached big numbers on paid traffic. That is how most successful stories end: free traffic is a springboard, not the destination.
Which networks accept beginners without a deposit
The second question after traffic is where to send it when you have no cases and no budget. We checked the conditions in the official FAQs.
- Amazon Associates — sign-up is free, but the account must be "activated" with three qualifying sales within 180 days, otherwise it is closed. This is the base for "white" setups like the Reddit case.
- Awin — charges a 1 EUR / GBP / USD deposit at sign-up, refunded with the first payout. Thousands of advertisers inside, including e-commerce and finance.
- CPA networks — most have no deposit but do have a minimum payout and moderation. Everad's minimum is $100, ClickDealer's is $500, and ClickDealer also asks for proven experience — an example of where a beginner with zero will not get in. OGAds, where the BHW case started, has a $50 payout threshold.
The full list with conditions is in our top 10 affiliate programs and CPA networks. Verticals for a zero-budget start are white and grey: e-commerce and physical products, mobile apps and utilities, mainstream dating, finance comparisons. Offers with a long cycle and expensive leads (gambling, nutra on paid traffic) cannot be tested without a budget — and most networks will not accept an account with no history anyway.
A 30-day plan with a $0 budget
The plan is built from what repeats across successful cases. It assumes one person and 2–3 hours a day.
- Days 1–2. Pick the setup. One platform, one vertical, one offer. The most common working pairs on forums: TikTok or Shorts → apps/dating/products, Reddit or Pinterest → Amazon/e-commerce, videos → Telegram channel → offers.
- Day 3. Sign up with a network. Start with one that has no deposit and a low payout threshold. Tell the manager you bring UBT — it improves your chances of passing moderation.
- Days 3–5. One or two accounts, not thirty. A live account on your own phone with real behavior: watch the feed, follow, comment. A UBT rules guide advises no more than 6 videos a day per account — more makes no sense.
- Days 5–20. Content every day. Formats that produce clicks in the cases: a short domain in the frame, carousels, rotating calls to action. For Shorts — a link in the pinned comment and description plus the domain said out loud. How to get the first views: how to get views on TikTok and Reels.
- Days 10–20. Collect the audience in Telegram. Until you have 1,000 followers for a TikTok bio link, move people to a channel where links have no limits. Guide: how to grow a Telegram channel from zero.
- Days 20–30. Analytics. Check view GEOs, link CTR, conversions in the network. If conversions do not arrive, check tracking with the postback troubleshooting checklist. If there is not a single click in 30 days, change the format, not the offer.
Mistakes that cost beginners time and accounts
- Duplicates. One video on 10 accounts, identical captions and CTAs — a fast shadowban. On BHW, the thread about several accounts on one phone agrees: bans come for behavior, not for the mere fact of a second account.
- Bought accounts. The $1,300 case is the best argument: half died within a week. If you scale at all, do it with your own warm-up and proper infrastructure — we covered antidetect browsers for affiliates separately.
- A link nobody sees. No TikTok bio link below 1,000 followers, nobody reads Shorts descriptions. The only fix is the domain in the frame and in the voiceover.
- Wrong GEO. Half a million views from a country the offer does not accept equal zero. Check allowed GEOs before launching.
- "Earning bots" and $300 courses. In no-investment threads there are more of them than real cases. Everything described above is available for free on forums.
- Burnout. Partnerkin's most experienced UBT author wrote a separate post about it. Manual posting on dozens of accounts is a job, not passive income.

When to move to paid traffic
The signal is simple: you have a setup that converts consistently on organic traffic and you have hit a reach ceiling. Then the first $100–300 should go not into accounts but into testing the same setup on a paid source — that is what the authors of most successful BHW journeys did. For the basics of paid sources read the Google Ads guide for beginners and the article on Facebook for beginners.
FAQ
Can you make money with affiliate marketing with no money at all?
Yes, but it will be UBT: organic traffic from TikTok, Shorts, Reddit, Pinterest or Telegram sent to affiliate offers. Cases with $0–52 at the start exist on BlackHatWorld, Indie Hackers and Partnerkin, but all of them take 2–5 hours of work a day.
How much can you earn in the first month?
In published cases — from $0 to about $1,100 for 20–30 days of work. A typical beginner's first month is a few dozen dollars and an understanding of which setup produces clicks.
Which platform is best to start with?
TikTok and YouTube Shorts give the fastest reach, Reddit and Pinterest the most stable "white" traffic. Telegram works best as a middle layer where you collect the audience.
Do I need proxies and an antidetect browser with no budget?
With one or two accounts on your own phone — no. They become necessary with more than five accounts, and at that point the budget is no longer zero.
Which networks accept beginners without experience or a deposit?
Amazon Associates (3 sales within 180 days required), Awin (refundable $1/€1/£1 deposit), most CPA networks with no deposit but a $50–100 minimum payout. ClickDealer with a $500 minimum and an experience requirement is an example of a network not meant for a first start.
